This policy explains what personal data BeHere collects, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). BeHere is based in Barcelona, Spain.

1. Who is responsible for your data

BeHere is the data controller. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, contact us at hello@joinbehere.com.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following personal data when you use BeHere:

• Your name and email address when you create an account
• Your booking details, including the experience you donated to and the date
• Payment information, processed and stored by Stripe (we never see or store your card number)
• For charity accounts: organisation name, registration number, contact details, and bank details for payouts
• Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically when you use the site

3. Why we collect it and what we use it for

We use your data to:

• Process your donation and confirm your booking
• Send you booking confirmation and reminder emails
• Manage cancellations and refunds
• For charities: process payouts and send notifications about your listings
• Improve the platform and understand how it is being used
• Comply with legal obligations

The legal basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (your donation and booking), our legitimate interests in operating the platform, and your consent where we ask for it.

4. Who we share your data with

We share limited data with the following third parties to operate the platform:

• Supabase (database and authentication) — stores your account and booking data securely
• Stripe (payment processing) — handles donation payments. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy
• Resend (transactional email) — used to send booking confirmations and notifications
• Cloudflare (website hosting and security) — serves the BeHere website and protects it from abuse

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where this is the case, data is transferred under standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, which provide equivalent protections to those required under GDPR.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

When you book an experience, your name will be shared with the relevant charity so they know you are coming.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it for legal or financial reasons (such as records of donations, which we retain for 7 years in line with Spanish accounting requirements).

6. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to how we process your data
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent where you previously gave it

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Spain's data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), at aepd.es.

7. Cookies

BeHere uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you logged in and to make the site work. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from staying logged in.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage, and restricted access to personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted over the internet.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
